Saga 2002 #46 Teemto Pagalies (Pod Racer) Review

One of the untapped character wells of the Star Wars prequels is the pod racers. There's plenty of pod racers that have yet to be made into figure form, and now there's one less thanks to this Teemto Pagalies figure. No, he doesn't have his own pod racer to fit in, but at least he comes with a piece of it...Read on for the review and 6 photos!

Teemto Pagalies

Pod Racer

"Proud of his new cycling-electromagnet stabilizer, Teemto Pagalies is entering his barely tested Podracer in the Boonta Eve Classic, believing that it will give him the winning edge." --Excerpt from the package back

Sculpt--3.5/5
There's nothing terribly special about Teemto's sculpting, but there are some nice little details which make him slightly above average. His skin is appropriately wrinkly and his clothes look decent enough. I like his little belt (which is molded separately but not removable) and all the little pouches attached to it. His posing is decent, nothing outlandish or extreme.

I like the sculpting on his accessories; both the podracer engine debris and the maintenance spider droid have nice details, looking worn-out and used. The spider droid has little dings and scrapes on its shell and the engine debris has wires, piping and other little details.

Articulation--3/5
Teemto has seven points of articulation: neck, shoulders, waist, hips, and tail. Pretty standard stuff here. His tail can rotate, which is good because you'll need to position it to help Teemto stand.

Features--5/5
The only feature is associated with the spider droid accessory. Press the top of the droid's dome and its claw-like legs open. Thus, you can grab the engine debris and carry it off, as seen in the added scene in the Episode I DVD. It works pretty well and is well hidden so it doesn't get in the way of the sculpting of the spider droid. It's quite fun to play with and reminds me of those UFO catcher machines at arcades or the occasional Denny's.

Accessories--5/5
You get the aforementioned maintenance spider droid, podracer engine debris, and Teemto's removable goggles. This is a pretty nice pack-out; this is pretty much the next best thing to including his pod racer! Everything looks great and the engine and spider droid can be used in dioramas as background filler. The goggles are a little weak, as they aren't as clear as I'd like them to be. Unfortunately, clearer plastic would probably mean more brittle plastic, which would make it hard to get around Teemto's head.

Paint--2.5/5
The paint on Teemto is a little...vague. It's a bit hard to tell what part is his skin and what isn't since everything is about the same color (except for his pants). His pants have white lines on them, but they aren't painted well and break up here and there.

Overall--3.5/5
I like the accessories in this set better than the figure! Teemto's not bad either, but I'm not sure what the point is of making podracer figures when they aren't going to make a podracer to go with them. Still, it's a good set, especially if you like the podracers.
