Sculpt--4/5 I always enjoy seeing figures of cantina patrons, not only because it's such a classic scene in A New Hope but because it lets us get a good look at the characters and their outfits. Sure, Hasbro embellishes a little by adding ankle holsters and guns, but otherwise it's a nice view of characters we see for only a few seconds. Djas Puhr is one of those characters that casual Star Wars fans will probably not remember, so obviously, this figure is for the collectors out there wanting to fill up their cantina dioramas or alien collections. Djas' sculpting is great and considering how plain his outfit is, Hasbro did a good job at making it somewhat exciting. Like every other cantina alien Hasbro has done since the Power of the Jedi line, Djas has holsters for his blasters. Whether or not the holsters are film accurate is beyond me, but I don't really care since he looks cool with them. What I find interesting about the sculpt is that his holsters and the bottom part of his shirt (along with his belt) are molded separately from his hip section. Not only does it make his outfit more realistic, but it also serves to somewhat hide his hip articulation. Djas' headsculpt is adequate, but not phenomenal. The likeness is pretty good, but it seems like there could be a bit more detail and definition especially with all the wrinkles and angles in his facial structure. Articulation--3/5 I wasn't expecting anything more than the basic six points, and was surprised to find two wrist joints on Djas. So in all, Djas Puhr has eight points: neck, shoulders, wrists, waist, and hips. All the joints are pretty basic. The wrist joints are nice because they are well hidden and not obvious in any way. Unfortunately, I don't think they're all that useful, and I would have rather seen a bicep-cut or knee-joints. Accessories--2/5 Man...this is disappointing. Djas comes with two blaster pistols and two blast-effects, but these are the worst guns I've seen in the Saga line. They are not only very small, but very thin as well. This coupled with the soft plastic used to make the guns and you've got a recipe for disaster. Chances are, you'll get guns that are warped, bent, crooked....anything but straight. Another thing that sucks about the guns is that they don't fit into the holsters too well; it seems like his holsters were made with different guns in mind. The blast-effects are the same ones used with Jango Fett and the Rebel Endor Trooper. Paint--3.5/5 The paint apps are another area that spruces up an otherwise drab outfit. Djas' sleeves and pants have a cream-colored trim and his holsters have a little insignia on them that looks like...well, a rectangle with tusks. Overall--3/5 Overall, this is an average figure. There's nothing especially fantastic about him, but nor is there anything horribly wrong. The guns are probably the worst part of the set. I can only recommend this figure if you collect the cantina aliens or just aliens in general. --Photos and review by Garett Yoshimura garett@carrotnetwork.com |
