Saga 2002 #37 Han Solo (Endor Raid) Review

There are certain poses that scream Han Solo, and this figure is in one. While this figure doesn't have a great action feature or articulation, its dynamic pose may win you over. Read on for the review and 8 photos!

Han Solo

Endor Raid

"With the second Death Star almost complete, the Rebels infiltrate the Forest moon of Endor in order to destroy the shield generator protecting the deadly weapon. Daring and resourceful as always, Han fights his way to the shield to plant proton grenades." --Excerpt from the card back

Sculpt--3.5/5
Okay, so this Han Solo is pretty pre-posed, but I think he looks excellent! The pose is straight from ROTJ and has Han Solo written all over it. Unlike Death Star Escape Han Solo, this is one pre-posed figure I love looking at. Han's pose looks great both before and after activating his quick-draw feature, and I'm not quite sure which way I like him best.

The headsculpt is also excellent and is probably the best likeness of Harrison Ford Hasbro has produced. It looks a lot like the headsculpt they used for the 25th Anniversary 2-pack, but this time they used better-colored plastic. Actually, it doesn't look like Mr. Ford from all angles, only some of them. From certain angles, he looks extremely weird, while at other angles it looks picture perfect. Also, Han's neck is bent, so he only looks good when his head is turned to his right.

Articulation--3/5
Han is articulated in eight places: neck, shoulders, right elbow-cut, right wrist, waist, and hips. The right shoulder and waist only move for the action feature. You can actually move the waist past its default positions, but doing so will end up disabling the action feature. The elbow-cut on the right arm is cut at an angle so you can vary the angle at which Han's arm is bent. You can straighten his arm out completely, but it doesn't look right to me.

Features--4/5
Han's got a quick-draw feature, similar to Padme's but much, much better designed. Unlike Padme, who had to be held in her neutral pose by hand, Han can be "locked" in place, waiting for you to unleash his quick-draw feature at will. The feature is activated by pressing down on the white cylinder on his hip (a droid caller). His upper body will then rotate counter-clockwise as his right arm swings upward. It's a decent feature and fits the character well. On the card back, it states that you can use the feature to have Han throw a punch, but that's a stretch of the imagination.

Accessories--2.5/5
You get Han's blaster pistol and two proton grenades. The blaster pistol looks excellent and is the best looking version of the Mauser-type blaster that Hasbro has done yet. It's accurately sized and very well detailed--it's even got a trigger! They should have given Bespin Luke this blaster instead of that big one he comes with. The thermal detonators are decently detailed, and the cool thing about them is that they are suction cups. There is a big letter "R" molded on the side of them which is a bit perplexing, but it doesn't bother me much. However, I'm a bit disappointed in the accessories overall. It seems like something's missing...oh yeah, Han had a trenchcoat! Even though he wasn't wearing one when he struck this particular pose, it would have been nice to give him one anyway.

Paint--4/5
The paint job overall is decent, but I saw a lot of figures with messed up paint jobs, mostly at the hairline. I also saw one Han who was cross-eyed so examine your Han before you take him to the register.

Overall--3.5/5
I didn't think I would like this figure this much, but the more I look at him the more I like him. Sure, he is pre-posed, but it's an excellent pose that captures the character perfectly.
