Yoda
Jedi Master
"The oldest member of the Jedi Council, Yoda is a wise and cautious Jedi Master. When Obi-Wan informs the Council of the Separatists' plans, Yoda assembles the Clone Army to subdue the rebellion. Yoda's unassuming size masks his enormous powers. His skills in the Force are not limited to wisdom and guidance, but are matched by his dexterity and fighting prowess." --Excerpt from the card back
| Sculpt--3.5/5 This is quite possibly the coolest Yoda figure yet! The first Yoda in an action pose! But don't worry, he also works well in non-action situations. Yoda's outer cloak is molded as a separate piece this time around and it looks fantastic. One side of it flares out quite dramatically, making it look pretty darn cool. The headsculpt is done well, but I think the eyes are too far apart. This is especially apparent when you compare the toy to the photo on the package. Articulation--4/5 Yoda has four points of articulation: neck, ball-jointed shoulders, and waist. For a Yoda figure, this is great articulation. The ball-jointed shoulders were an excellent choice and makes a variety of poses possible. Features--1.5/5 There is a sticker on the bubble that states, "With Force Action!" which is usually associated with magnetic features in the figure. This time, that is not the case. The only feature Yoda has is contained in the included platform. There is a huge peg in the platform where you place Yoda on. Then, you turn the top part of the platform and he "levitates" as the peg moves up. Not very convincing, especially since Yoda turns along with the platform. Accessories--5/5 Yoda comes with a ton of stuff! You get the platform with which a chunk of it is removable, Yoda's lightsaber, cane, and a "levitation Force effect". The platform comes in two pieces and snaps together. The little chunk can break off from the base of the platform and can be "levitated" by using the included Force effect which connects to Yoda's arm. The platform chunk fits perfectly in one end of the effect and I was surprised that the effect is as sturdy as it is. It's made of a rubbery material, so I figured it would start to droop pretty quickly. But after a good two full days of being held in the air by Yoda's arm, it looked just like it did when I first put it on. Yoda's lightsaber is another great piece in the set. Judging from the photos on the back of the card, it would appear that they were going to make it from plastic since he has no magnet in his palm or anywhere else. So it's neat that they gave us a metal one, even if it's detailing had to be compromised. The last accessory is Yoda's cane. It fits pretty good in his right hand, but not too well in his left. Paint--3/5 Not a bad job on the paint. Yoda's hair could have been painted better, as it's pretty subtle and mostly green. On the prototype, the insides of the sleeves were painted brown, but on the actual figure it isn't. It looks good either way to me, so I don't mind. Overall--4.5/5 This is definitely a must buy figure if you see him. This Yoda looks great, has some nice accessories and is just fun to play with. |
