| Sculpt--3/5 This Zam Wessel is much different from the Sneak Preview version. For one thing, she is shorter. Whether this height is more accurate remains to be seen. Thankfully, the headsculpt on this figure is a more accurate size and looks correctly proportional to her body. The stance on this Zam is a lot stranger though, but I think Hasbro meant her to be in her kneeling pose primarily, a pose in which she looks more normal. Zam's face doesn't quite look like the actress who plays her, but it's close enough. Articulation--4/5 Zam has twelve points of articulation: neck, shoulders, right bicep-cut, left wrist, waist, hips, knees, and ankles. The left shoulder is ball-jointed, which is cool but I don't think it was necessary. I mean, if she had just a normal shoulder joint, I wouldn't have been thinking, 'man, I wish she had a ball-jointed shoulder!" UPDATE: Well, now that I've seen the movie, I'm guessing they included the ball-jointed shoulder so you can have Obi-Wan carry her out of the club. Her right shoulder is spring loaded for her action feature, and the right bicep-cut is literally a cut! You can remove Zam's arm at this point, which is held together by magnets in both her shoulder and her severed arm. The ankle joints are nicely hidden, as you turn her whole boots instead of just the feet. The knee joints aren't bad, but they have no "knee-caps" in that it's very easy to bend her legs the wrong way. All this leg articulation is for Zam Wesell's kneeling pose, unfortunately, I have a hard time keeping her upright when kneeling. Features--4/5 Zam Wesell has a Quick-Draw Action, and thankfully it's better than Padme's quick-draw action. You put her arm down and it will lock in place, until you hit a small button on her back, releasing the spring-loaded arm to a shooting position. Some people may not like buttons on the back of their figures, but this one isn't so bad as it is very small. Zam Wesell also has a removable arm, since she gets it cut off in the movie. It is held by two very strong magnets and does a good job of staying together. It does slide a little when you're doing the quick-draw action, but it isn't that bad. The final feature is Zam's second identity. The figure comes with a mask that you can put over her human face. Accessories--3/5 Zam comes with her blaster pistol and her face mask. The blaster pistol can fit in both hands or in her holster. The paint job on this pistol is different from her sneak preview version and has an all black pistol grip. The mask is pretty well made and fits over Zam's face and neck almost perfectly. It's nice that it goes under her collar and around her neck which really makes it look less like a mask. This is a good thing because in the movie, it's not a mask (at least, that's what I've heard). Paint--3/5 For the most part, I have no complaints except for the tubing on her midsection. The paint is just down-right sloppy here and some parts of the tubing aren't even painted. Overall--4/5 I like this version a lot better than the preview Zam Wesell because of the posability and action features. The only thing I don't like is her pose when standing. Something about her right leg is just weird, like it's bending the wrong way or something. But overall, this is a fun figure to play with and a nice addition to my collection. |
