Ever since the awesome Commtech Stormtrooper, I can't look at the older Stormtroopers without cringing a bit. Of course, that includes the old Sandtroopers which is why I love the fact that Hasbro decided to redo them for the POTJ line.
Sandtrooper
Tatooine Patrol
"For missions on arid planets such as Tatooine, the Empire sends in desert stormtroopers, commonly called sandtroopers. With rare exceptions, these Imperial soldiers are completely loyal to the Emperor, and are prepared to carry out their orders with ruthless efficiency." --excerpt from the Force File

Sculpt--4/5 The sculpting on this figure is excellent. He looks like a real Sandtrooper from A New Hope complete with pouches in all the right places. However, his pose is slightly limiting; his arms are bent at about 90 degrees so he can hold his macrobinoculars. The good thing is that he doesn't look that bad when he's just holding his blaster rifle so I'm not going to complain too much.
Articulation--4/5 There are eight points of articulation on this figure at the neck, shoulders, above the elbows, waist, and hips. I'm very glad Hasbro chose to articulate both elbows; on certain charcters who hold things with two hands, Hasbro sometimes only articulates one elbow or (in the case of POTJ Lando) none at all. An added wrist articulation would have been perfect, then he would be able to hold his rifle with both hands. All in all Hasbro did a good job on the articulation with this fig.
Accessories--5/5 I'm giving this figure a perfect score for accessories because I think it's about time Hasbro made some macrobinoculars. It's a cool accessory that can also be used with any hoth figures or dioramas (I'd like to see a new Han in Hoth gear). He also comes with the standard Imperial blaster rifle and his backpack. The backpack pretty much looks like the ones on the older Sandtroopers but this one has a hole to hold the blaster rifle and a peg to attach the macrobinoculars. I thought that was a nice surprise. Good accessories all around.
Paint--2.5/5 I'm a bit conflicted on this category. I love the dirt on this guy's armor but Hasbro did a terrible job on the helmet. The lenses aren't fully painted black, and the black line above them is totally crooked. It could be that I got a bad piece so the next time I see one I'll see if it has as bad a paint job as mine.
Overall--4/5 Despite the bad paint job, this is one of my favorite figures because he just looks so darn cool. He's got great accessories and pretty good poseabilty and articulation. If you see this guy, get him; I've only seen him in a brick and mortor store once, so I'm glad I got him when I did.
