POTJ Zutton (Snaggletooth) Review

I believe Zutton actually appeared in the Star Wars Holiday Special, a show that aired on TV in 1978 with the cast of Star Wars in a "variety show" format. The show was so awful that Lucas has said he would, if he could, destroy every remaining copy of it on earth. The figure is rather nice however, and will make an excellent addition to your Mos Eisley cantina. Read on for the review and 5 photos!

Zutton

Snaggletooth

"Zutton is a Snivvian artist who turned bounty hunter by chasing down Thalassian slavers. Her was given the nickname 'Snaggletooth' at the Mos Eisley cantina, because of his pronounced fangs. His exceptional bounty hunter skills have caught the attention of crimlord Jabba the Hutt, who has put his services on retainer." --Excerpt from the card back

Sculpt--5/5
Hasbro has given us another wonderfully sculpted denizen of the Mos Eisley cantina, a trend I hope will continue during the whirlwind of Episode II figures that will soon be upon us. This little guy looks just like the photo on the back of the card--even the wrinkles on his jumpsuit look like they were based on this photo! The headsculpt is superb as well, with great detail in the hair and face. I honestly don't know if this guy can be sculpted any better than this!

Articulation--4/5
Zutton has eight points of articulation: neck, shoulders, waist, hips, and knees. Hasbro could have easily not given us knee articulation but I think it was great that they did. I feel that every cantina alien that is shown sitting in the movie should have knee articulation. I believe Hasbro also intended Zutton to have the ability to kneel on one knee so he can fire his big gun. Hasbro also did a good job on the neck articulation; Usually, big headed alien don't have much room for neck movement, but Hasbro did a wise thing and cut away some room under his chin so he could turn his head.

Accessories--5/5
Zutton comes with three accessories: his blaster pistol, a big blaster cannon, and a drinking glass! The inclusion of a drinking glass is what prompted me to give this category a 5 out of 5. I wish we had gotten one with Ellors Madak or some of the other Mos Eisley regulars. The glass is well molded and can fit in Zutton's right hand, although it's a very tight fit. His pistol can be put in either hand but is obviously meant for his left hand which has a trigger finger. It is interesting to note that this is the same pistol Ellors Madak has, just painted differently. It can also fit into Zutton's ankle holster. The big gun can be held in his right hand and goes over his shoulder like a bazooka. An interesting weapon, and he looks cool when holding it. Outstanding job on the accessories!

Paint--3/5
The paint on my Zutton is good, but I have to be honest here and say that it was the only good one at the Toys R Us where I got him. All the others had the paint on the teeth slightly off from where is was supposed to be. This coupled with the fact that the initial run of Zutton figures had bad paint washes on his face only point to a lack of quality control on Hasbro's part.

Overall--4.5/5
I really like this guy; his sculpt and articulation make him not only a cool-looking alien, but also very playable. You can put him in a variety of poses, make-believe he's running after (or from) something, or make him just chill at the cantina. This is an excellent figure and a fine example of a good cantina alien. Well worth the money.
