Now this is how background aliens should be made! The alien known as squidhead to older collectors is back and better than ever. His robes may not be cloth, but they're some of the best molded robes made. Read on for the review and 4 photos!
Tessek
Squidhead
"When the Empire invades Mon Calamari, Tessek escapes and becomes an accountant for Jabba the Hutt. Tessek despises Jabba and hopes to kill him and acquire his fortune. Unfortunately, Tessek doesn't realize his plans are known to Jabba's trusted servants...and to Jabba himself!" --Excerpt from the Force File
| Sculpt--5/5 For a background character, Hasbro has outdone themselves. In fact, it surpasses some of the main characters they've done recently! This sculpt is simply awesome. The headsculpt looks just like the photos of Tessek with every little wrinkle and bump accurately sculpted. His robe is realistically sculpted with great folds, and it even has a very nice texture made up of very fine lines. Underneath the skirt of his robe, you will find two excellently sculpted legs complete with hip holster. It's incredible how much detail they put into Tessek's boots and pants even though you're not going to be looking at them a whole lot. Now this is what I really like about this figure--the cape. This is the best darn looking molded cape I've ever seen, period. The way it crumples and folds at the bottom is simply marvelous. Articulation--4/5 Tessek has seven points: neck, shoulders, bicep-cut above the elbow, waist, and hips. Given that this is just a background character, I think it's great that Hasbro has given Tessek more than the standard six points. The bicep-cut is useful for positioning Tessek's arm in a relaxed pose across his abdomen or for holding his gun up in the air. Accessories--3/5 You get one accessory, Tessek's modified blaster pistol. It's well sculpted and fits both in Tessek's left hand or his holster very snugly. Paint--4/5 The paint job is excellent. Everything is painted great, and the blue gauntlets give the figure enough color to keep him from looking drab. Hasbro even painted on what looks like dirt on Tessek's head. If you've ever seen a real squid, you'd recognize this "dirt" as the fine dark spots found on their skin. Overall--5/5 Am I crazy for giving this figure a perfect score? I don't think so; I don't see how they could have made this figure any better. You can tell Hasbro put a lot of time and care into this figure and it's my favorite non-primary character Hasbro has done so far. On a side note, there is an interesting photo in Tessek's Force File showing Bossk standing behind a Gamorrean Guard! I never knew Bossk was on Jabba's sail barge, but I guess he was. |
