We haven't really gotten much in the way of ewok figures, so it's nice that Hasbro is giving us Teebo, one of the more unique-looking ewoks from Return of the Jedi. Great sculpting and great articulation make this a great ewok figure. Read on for the review and 6 photos!
Teebo
"Teebo is an Ewok poet, musician and mystic who reads the future in the stars and communicates with nature. He's a member of the tribe's Council of Elders and led the war party that discovered Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and the others before the Battle of Endor." --Excerpt from the card back
| Sculpt--4.5/5 Wow! This is the finest sculpted Ewok yet from Hasbro! Everything is great on this figure, from Teebo's fur to his highly detailed face. Teebo is also the tallest Ewok Hasbro has made yet, and is about half a head taller than Logray or Paploo. Teebo's headdress is also excellently sculpted, but is missing two tusks on the animal's head which are clearly seen in the photos on the card. Articulation--4/5 Teebo is the most articulated Ewok with seven points: neck, shoulders, wrists, and hips. Despite the headdress, Teebo's neck has quite a bit of motion thanks to the soft material the headdress is made of. The wrist joints are the real attraction though, and they are useful for holding Teebo's spear in a variety of ways. Accessories--4.5/5 It may seem like you only get one accessory, the spear, but in reality you get three not counting the headdress! Besides the spear, you get sheathed knife, and a horn. Both of these are strapped to Teebo where you must remove his headdress to get them off. The sheathed knife could be put on other Ewoks if you'd like, and the horn can sort of be held by Teebo (though it's obvious it wasn't meant to be). Paint--2.5/5 This is the most disappointing aspect of this figure. The good: Teebo's face is excellent with a very nicely painted mouth, nose and eyes. Teebo's hands and feet are also well done. The bad: First, the lines on Teebo's fur could definitely be more distinct; you can barely see them! Second, Teebo's headdress is pretty drab. It's a shame too because there's a lot of detail in it. Third, Teebo's spear should be brown--the color of wood. The photo on the card front even shows this. Unfortunately, it looks more like it's made of ivory. Well, I guess the spear is more of a poor choice in choosing the right colored plastic, and less of a painting error. In any case, not painting Teebo's lines darker is bad enough to warrant a low score. Overall--4/5 Despite the bad paint job, this is a great figure and a must-buy if you own the other Ewoks. This last and final wave (not counting the Ep. II preview figs) of the Power of the Jedi line has had the best assortment of figures since...since...well, since the FX-7 wave! All in all, Power of the Jedi has been an awesome run of figures, and I only hope the new figures continue the great trend that POTJ started.
