POTJ IG-88 (Bounty Hunter) Review

Didn't like the Shadow's of the Empire version of IG-88? Then this is the IG-88 for you! Improved details, such as a separately sculpted bandoleer make this the IG-88 to own. Read on for the review and 3 photos!

IG-88

Bounty Hunter

"The most infamous and feared of all assassin droids, IG-88 has made a career as a ruthless bounty hunter. The tall, slender, gray droid was produced at Holowan Laboratories. IG-88 is equipped with an array of head sensors that allow him to see in all directions at once, and a variety of lethal weapons including grenade launchers, missiles and a flamethrower." --Excerpt from the Force File

Great improvement over the original and the SOTE version.

Sculpt--4/5
Most excellent. Now this is the IG-88 we should have gotten instead of that Shadows of the Empire repaint of the original. The details are amazing. I like the little dents in the cylinders around his abdomen. All the little wires and tubes are also well detailed. The head is also much more accurate. Very nice.

Articulation--4/5
IG-88 doesn't need much articulation to begin with, so it's nice that Hasbro has added articulation to IG-88's head! IG-88 has seven points in all: head, neck, shoulders, mid-section, and hips. The head is articulated just below the main "eyes".

Accessories--4/5
I think it's pretty cool that Hasbro has made the bandoleer a separate accessory instead of part of IG-88's mold. This way, you could use it for a kitbash or custom figure. IG-88 also comes with a pulse cannon molded in a silver colored plastic. I would have given this category a perfect score if they had included a standard issue Imperial blaster rifle, since he is holding both of these weapons in the movie.

Paint--4/5
I like this paint job. Hasbro painted on a very nice rust effect and it really makes the detail stand out. Silver accents are also painted well, but it seems silver paint is exclusive only to the front of the figure; oddly, the silver paint stops at the sides of IG-88 even though things that should be silver continue on to IG-88's back.

Overall--4/5
This is an excellent replacement for the old IG-88's. Sure, IG-88 isn't the most exciting character in the Star Wars universe, but this is a great rendition of him.
