POTJ Han Solo (Bespin Capture) Review

Commtech Han Solo was my favorite Han Solo figure--until now! I just got this gem in the mail today and it has surpassed my expectations. Nice articulation, good sculpt, separately sculpted jacket, I love this thing! Read on for the review and 5 photos!

Han Solo

Bespin Capture

"A smuggler before he joined the Rebel Alliance, the daring Han Solo stayed alive by keeping his guard up and his blaster ready. Unfortunately, when he arrived on Cloud City with Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and C-3PO, Solo had no idea that he was walking right into a trap...and a fateful confrontation with Darth Vader." --Excerpt from the Force File

Commtech Han Solo was my favorite Han Solo figure--until now! I just got this gem in the mail today and it has surpassed my expectations.

Sculpt--4/5
This is an excellent rendition of Bespin Han Solo. The headsculpt is an updated version of the Commtech Solo's head, and though it still doesn't totally look like Harrison Ford, it's closer than other versions. The jacket is now separate from the mold of Han's body, unlike the POTF2 version which was just one solid piece. I also like the hands on this Han; one is molded to hold his blaster and the other is in a more natural pose which is good for the multiple poses this figure is capable of. The legs are in a pretty good stance, and are set wide enough to facilitate action poses, but are close enough to look good in non-action poses. And of course it wouldn't be POTJ if Han didn't have a functional holster.

Articulation--5/5
Superb articulation! Han has eight points: neck, ball-jointed shoulders, elbow-cuts, waist, and hips. I didn't know that he had ball-jointed shoulders before I bought him so that was a very pleasant surprise. These joints are also what make the figure as cool as it is. The amount of poses multiplies tenfold with these ball-joints! The elbow cuts are also a big part of this figure's appeal. The right arm's elbow is cut at an angle so that the arm can be straight, and then with a simple turn, it'll be at a slight angle. The left arm's elbow cut is pretty standard, but is also very useful. Without all of these joints, the elbow-cuts and the ball-joints, Han wouldn't be able to have the binders attached to his wrists and he wouldn't be able to make the great shooting poses that are possible.

Accessories--3/5
Han comes with his Blastech DL-44 heavy blaster pistol, and a pair of binders that can attach to his wrists. His pistol is nicely detailed and is slightly smaller than the Commtech Han version. One thing I don't like is that the pistol doesn't stay in Han Solo's hand very well and falls out easily.

Paint--5/5
Everything is painted well on my figure from the face to the belt to the lines on Han's pants.

Overall--4.5/5
There's a reason I've never seen this figure in the stores and that reason is that this figure is one of the gem's of the Power of the Jedi line. This is a must buy for anyone. Highly recommended!
