POTJ Chewbacca (Millennium Falcon Mechanic) Review

This marks the first Chewy figure that has a decently accurate height. He towers over other figures, which is what he should do. Some new accessories here too. Read on for the review and 3 photos!

Chewbacca

Millennium Falcon Mechanic

"Loyal even at great personal risk, strong as a gladiator, and as technically savvy as the brightest Academy graduate, the two-meter-plus tall Chewbacca is a true hero of the Rebellion. Chewbacca is copilot aboard the Millennium Falcon, where his skill as a mechanic proves invaluable to the safety of the ship and its crew." --excerpt from the Force File

Sculpt--4/5
This has got to be the tallest Chewbacca figure Hasbro has done. This is good though, because his height is finally pretty accurate. The sculpting is also pretty darn good. I don't think Hasbro could mold fur any better. The face is also nice and is an excellent likeness. This Chewy has his bangs parted in the middle which is more of a ROTJ look, but I think they did this because his hair hangs over his goggles in a scene in Empire Strikes Back. His hands are molded to hold his welding torch and goggles, but still looks good when he's not holding them. Another cool thing is that his right hand is also good for holding a gun, making this figure suitable for helping Leia and Lando escape from Bespin. So far, this is my favorite Chewbacca sculpt yet.

Articulation--4/5
Chewy has seven points of articulation: neck, shoulders, bicep-cut above the elbow, waist, and hips. I'm not sure if the neck should count; this being a Chewbacca figure, the neck articulation is pretty useless. The bicep-cut is useful for once, making his right arm able to hold a blaster rifle and look good to boot. He would still be able to hold a blaster rifle without said articulation, you just wouldn't be able to have as wide a range of motion. It would have been nice if this Chewbacca could kneel, but it's still a good Chewy.

Accessories--4/5
Good accessories. You get Chewy's welding torch and RW-80 welding goggles. The goggles are molded in a beige-ish color with the lenses painted black. The strap is molded and is non-functional. The welding torch is pretty simple and fits nicely in Chewy's left hand. Good accessories that compliment the figure well.

Paint--4/5
Everything was painted nicely on my figure. The eyes, mouth and nose are perfect. The bandoleer and bag are also painted well. I also like how they've subtly darkened parts of his fur.

Overall--4/5
A solid figure all around and in my opinion, the best Chewbacca figure. He fits in well with ESB and ROTJ dioramas and displays, but not so well in A New Hope because of his hair style. All in all, a good figure and better yet, I've seen a lot of these on clearance at Target.
