The vintage line gave us a caucasian and african american Bespin guard figures, and now for the POTJ line, we're getting an asian guard. At least, that's what he looks like to me. Nice accessories and a removable hat make this a pretty nice Bespin guard. Read on for the review and 3 photos!
Bespin Guard
Cloud City Security
"The blue-clad Bespin guards commonly known as 'Wing Guards' are the law enforcement officers for Cloud City. Under the supervision of Baron Administrator Lando Calrissian, they protect the floating metropolis from criminals and Imperial forces." --Excerpt from the Force File
| Sculpt--3.5/5 Nice. The figure has a pretty good likeness to the guy they put on the front of the Force File. He appears to be the Asian guard. Hasbro gave his uniform a unique texture, and I'm not quite sure what fabric they're trying to emulate. In any case, it looks good and is detailed nicely. The figure is posed in a semi-action-y pose and looks good both pointing his weapons at people or just standing there (although he does look better pointing his weapons). His hands are sculpted to hold his pistol and baton, so they look a little awkward when he's not holding them. His jacket is nice but I'm wondering why Hasbro chose to open it up, when they're closed most of the time in the movie. It would have been cool if you could close it somehow. Articulation--4/5 The Bespin Guard has eight points of articulation: neck, shoulders, elbow-cuts, waist, and hips. The elbow-cuts are pretty useful on this figure, making a variety of poses possible. Accessories--5/5 Hasbro did a great job with the accessories on this fig. You get a blaster pistol, baton, "magnacuffs", and his cap is removable. The cap fits snug on his head but I think it could have been molded just a tad smaller; it looks kind of big, especially on the sides. The cool thing about the weapons and cuffs is that they can all be stored on figure when he's not holding them. The pistol has its own holster, the baton attaches to the holster, and the cuffs attach in the back to his belt. Paint--3/5 Paint apps are generally pretty good on this figure. The only part that isn't too solid on my fig is the gold trim on his jacket. Overall--3.5/5 This is a must-buy figure if you've got a Bespin display or diorama. It would be nice if they made some variants but you'd probably just do it yourself if you're into customizing or kitbashing. Excellent for thwarting the Empire or just beating up Han Solo with a baton. |
