Padme Amidala

Coruscant Attack

"Senator Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, returns to Coruscant to vote on the critical issue of creating an army of the Republic to assist the overwhelmed Jedi. As her Naboo Cruiser arrives, an explosion tears apart the ship. Fortunately Padme, disguised as a Naboo pilot, eludes danger, but her decoy Corde, disguised as Senator Amidala, was not as lucky." --Excerpt from the package back

Sculpt--4/5
This is simply a great sculpt of Padme. Her stance is relaxed and even a bit feminine. Her left arm is posed to hold her helmet, so it's bit limiting poseability-wise. Padme's outfit looks very nice with a great texture, making it look appropriately leathery where it should look leathery. The headsculpt is decent, but it looks wierd when you look at it from her right side. She almost looks like a bald person wearing a wig. The hair is also not terribly accurate as it was much longer in the movie and was braided differently.

Articulation--4/5
Padme has 12 points of articulation: neck, shoulders, bicep-cuts, waist, hips, knees, and ankles. The knee and ankle articulation allows Padme to kneel, which is good for shooting poses or for kneeling next to Corde (if they ever make her). The right shoulder joint should be noted, since it acts just like a normal articulation point despite the quick-draw action feature.

Features--4/5
Padme features the aforementioned quick-draw action, but this is honestly the best quick-draw action Hasbro has come up with. A button in the back makes her right arm raise which is typical, but you can also move her arm normally as if no action feature were present. Finally, an action feature that doesn't muck up the articulation!

Accessories--3/5
You get a radar dish, blaster, and flight helmet. The radar dish is a nice big accessory, which while not exactly prominent in the film, is useful for background filler for dioramas or the like. The radar dish can "explode" with the push of a lever, but is neither convincing nor exciting.

The blaster pistol is required for her quick-draw action and can be attached to Padme's belt when not in use. That would be inaccurate to the film however, since a blaster is not seen on her. The helmet is sculpted nicely, but fits terribly. There is simply not enough room for it to fit properly. You can push it forward a bit so you can actually see her eyes through the goggles, but then it just looks wierd. If you have Captain Typho, I suggest you have him lend his helmet to Padme, as it is slightly larger and fits better.

Paint--4.5/5
Solid job on this figure. The leather looks good as does Padme's face. I saw some that were slightly cross-eyed, so choose wisely. The helmet and blaster are well painted as is the radar dish. I especially like the way the radar dish "core" is still smoldering.

Overall--4/5
A solid Padme figure with good articulation and an action feature that won't get in the way. She also fits nicely in the Naboo Starfighter. Recommended if you like pilots or Padme figures.
