Sculpt--2.5/5 I'm beginning to think Hasbro thought the name of this movie was "Attack of the Jangos" (well, it sort of is), because this is the fourth Jango they've given us! After Kamino Escape Jango, I was hoping that this might be the definitive Jango figure, but boy was I wrong. The detailing isn't bad, in fact, he looks really nice. The problem lies in the posing of Jango's legs. His left leg is fine, but his right leg...ugh! It's sculpted so that you have to point his foot outward if you want him to look normal; otherwise, he'll look like he's crippled thanks to his bent ankle. The knee joints help somewhat, but it's still hard to find a pose that will allow him to stand and not look like he's leaning to the left.
The left hip is interesting because they cut away at the top of it just above the holster so it could have a wider range of motion and not have Jango's belt get in the way. This led me to believe that he may have initially been meant to be posed kneeling on one knee instead of two like the photo on the card back. Unfortunately, the right knee comes no where near the ground, so perhaps his right leg was meant to be straightened and pulled back for a pretty dynamic pose. This is actually the most stable pose I've found for him.
Another disappointment are the arms. I really don't like these built in features (first the grappling hook and now this!) as it ruins the look of the figure and isn't accurate to the movie. I understand that it would be impossible to make it film-accurate in this small scale, but I feel a clip-on flamethrower would have been a better idea. That way, you have the playability without compromising the design of the outfit. Also, Jango's left wrist is bent so he can't really point his gun straight. And I also feel that Jango's right elbow is too close to his body. Because of this, you can't put his right arm down very far and he looks a bit awkward holding his gun.
The headsculpt is nice and is worthy of mention because of the dent found in the helmet. This dent isn't on the other Jango figures, so Jango must have gotten it in the Geonosis arena. Curiously, it's in the same place that the adult Boba Fett has a dent on his helmet. Most likely Boba takes his father's helmet as a memento.
Articulation--3/5 Jango's got eleven points of articulation: neck, shoulders, right bicep-cut, wrists, waist, hips, and knees. Jango's knees not only bend, but swivel too, much like the red Clone Trooper. Unfortunately, these joints seem like they were placed in as an afterthought as it seems his legs were meant to be in a certain pose. On the card back, there is a photo of Jango kneeling on both knees, even though i don't recall him in this pose in the movie. It would have been nice if you could pose this Jango in a more neutral pose, since he's pretty much just standing there when his head gets chopped off.
The bicep-cut and wrist joints are good for posing Jango to look like he's activating and aiming his flamethrowing arm. Overall, the articulation is decent, but I feel the knee articulation has much room to be improved.
Features--4/5 Jango has a flame-projectile shooting left arm. Now that I've seen the movie, I kind of wish the flame looked different; I wish it looked more like...well, a flame than a comet. But as a projectile, it works great and if you like these sorts of things then you'll have fun blasting Jedi down with it.
Jango's other feature is his removeable head. I don't think there's been this much dismemberment in any other Star Wars movie! Thankfully the magnet holding Jango's head to his body is pretty strong; you can pick up Jango by the head and his body won't fall off! Perhaps it's too strong though; I can't get Geonosian Rescue Mace Windu to cut off his head.
Accessories--3/5 You get Jango's dual blaster pistols, the flame projectile, and Jango's Mitrinomon Z-6 jet pack. As mentioned earlier, I think the flame launching mechanism should have been a seperate accessory instead of built into his arm.
Paint--3/5 The paint job is alright; not the best it could be, but not horribly bad. Some of the edges of the blue on Jango's helmet are slightly sloppy, but it isn't too noticeable. There's also some bleeding of silver paint onto Jango's jumpsuit.
Overall--3/5 I'm not sure if I like this Jango more than Kamino Escape Jango. I've only found one pose that I really like with this guy and his poseability isn't as good as it could be. The removeable head is cool to me though, even if it's a bit morbid. I still want just a normal Jango Fett, with no gimmicks and good poseability--is that too much to ask for?
