Sculpt--3.5/5
Hasbro has been paying more attention to details and realism, and they've done a marelous job in the sculpting of this officer's uniform. There's just one problem--this is the WRONG uniform! This isn't an Imperial dress uniform which most of the officers wear in all three movies of the classic trilogy. This particular uniform is most easily seen in Return of the Jedi when Vader makes his surprise visit to the second Death Star (this might even be the ONLY time it appears in the movies). The uniform the figure is wearing is made up of black overalls, black cap, long gloves and boots and a belt with no utility boxes. The uniform also has an Imperial insignia on the left shoulder and a commlink on the left wrist. This is basically what a TIE Fighter pilot wears sans helmet and control box. Appearantly Hasbro couldn't find a good picture of such an officer, because the picture on the front of the card is of Lieutenant Shann Childsen ("Where are you taking this...thing?") who is wearing a Imperial dress uniform. Interestingly, Hasbro altered the picture to make him resemble the figure by removing his rank badge. Anyway, back to the sculpting...The headsculpt is pretty good, and it somewhat resembles Lt. Shann Childsen. It's even got the long sideburns. The uniform is pretty wrinkled--maybe too wrinkled, but in the end, I like the way the figure turned out, as he has a good stance and well posed arms.
Articulation--4/5 The Imperial officer has ten points: neck, shoulders, bicep-cuts on both arms, wrists, waist, and hips. The articulation is excellent for putting his arms behind his back to stand at attention, or behind his head as if he had been captured. He can also hold his blaster rifle with both hands. This is a well articulated figure perfect for many situations.
Accessories--2/5 There is only one accessory--the standard issue Imperial blaster rifle. Not a bad accessory, but something new would have been nice.
Paint--3/5 There's not much to paint on this figure, but for the most part, the paint is good. My figure's belt buckle is the only thing not painted well, but since there were no others to compare it to, I can't say if this is common.
Overall--3.5/5
Overall, I like this figure. I just wish Hasbro had given him the more common dress uniform. If you'd like to see all of the Imperial Officer uniforms, check out this page at theForce.net: Imperial Military Uniforms
