Sculpt--3.5/5 Wow, we haven't had a "normal" Vader since the Commtech Chip version (well, I guess you can count the 25th anniversary two-pack). This Vader is pretty scene specific. His left hand is open, like in the scene where Vader tries to entice Luke to join the dark side. It would have been cool if you could change the left hand, because a clenched fist would have been nice. Vader is also leaning forward, partially because he was leaning forward in the movie, but mostly because he needs to lean forward or else his cape would make him fall backward. His cape is sculpted well, as if blowing in a strong wind. It's a bit on the short side though and I think it could've been a bit longer in length.
There is one inaccuracy in the sculpt, and you'll see it if you take a good look at his chest. Vader's inner cape/vest is on the outside of his chestplate; it was only like that in A New Hope and was under the chestplate in ESB and ROTJ. This inaccuracy is due to the fact that Hasbro simply reused the torso from the 25th Anniversary Final Duel Vader. Quite clever on Hasbro's part, but I wish they could have fixed that one detail.
Vader's overall pose is bit disappointing. He looks really stiff, with his very straight legs and arms. It wouldn't be so bad if he had articulation to vary his pose, but unfortunately he doesn't.
Articulation--3/5 Vader has eight points of articulation: neck, shoulders, left bicep-cut, wrists, waist and hips. This is pretty disappointing. It would have been so cool if he at least had knee articulation. A bicep-cut on his right arm would have been helpful as well. But as it is, his articulation is decent. Vader can hold his lightsaber with both hands, but it doesn't look too good since his left hand is open.
Features--3/5 Vader has the same action feature as Bespin Duel Luke. There is huge button in his back just below the belt. When you push it Vader's upper body turns clockwise to "slash" with his lightsaber. It's a decent feature and hasn't compromised the look of the figure too much.
Vader also has a Force-attract left hand. There is a small magnet in the palm to attract the metal hilt of his lightsaber. I wish they could have made the magnet more powerful, as you have to be extremely close to attract the hilt.
Accessories--5/5 You get Vader's lightsaber and a part of the Bespin gantry. The inclusion of the Bespin walkway pieces is just cool, and is excellent for playing with and displaying the figure. Theoretically, you can "cut" the vertical piping with Vader's lightsaber-slashing feature, but the piping seems to be solid plastic, making it hard to even move the portion that gets cut. In any case, the railing and the pipes look great and really helps complete the pose they've given Vader.
Vader's lightsaber has a metal hilt and has a removeable red blade.
Paint--4/5 The paint is well done; there's no signs of sloppiness or bleeding anywhere on my figure. Interestingly, the buttons on his belt that were green before are painted blue on this figure.
Overall--3.5/5 This figure could have had more articulation points, or better posed legs, but all in all, I do like this figure. It's a figure based on one of the best scenes in any of the Star Wars movies, and I recommend it to anyone who is a fan.
