| Power of the Jedi
Who is Zam Wesell? We know that she is a bounty hunter, and this figure comes with quite a sniper rifle. Read on for the review and 6 photos!
Zam Wesell
"Ten years after the fight to save Naboo from invasion, the galaxy is on the brink of civil war. Under the leadership of a renegade Jedi, thousands of solar system threaten to secede from the Galactic Republic.
"A courageous Jedi Knight, his impulsive and headstrong apprentice, and a queen-turned-senator are drawn into the heart of the conflict..and the beginning of war." --Excerpt from the card back
| Sculpt--3.5/5 Zam is an interesting looking character. She's got a pretty complex outfit and I think Hasbro did a pretty good job at reproducing it. One thing we'll see in the new Episode II line of figures is pre-posing. These preview figures are no exception. However, Zam Wesell is surprisingly more posable than I thought she would be. Her legs are pretty much meant to be in one position--kinda leaning forward on her left foot, but her arms are posed to hold her guns and Hasbro did a good job at making them posable enough for making a couple of poses (more on that later). The details in Zam's outfit are excellent with wrinkles here and there and little things like writing on her breastplates. Of course, she has a functional holster for her pistol. Her headsculpt is also pretty accurate, though it's hard to tell that it's supposed to be a woman. The only thing wrong with the head is that's it's too small! It's totally out of proportion to the rest of her body making her look a bit odd especially when you compare her to the photo on the package. Articulation--4/5 Zam Wesell has eight points of articulation: neck, shoulders, bicep-cut on her right arm, wrist-cut on her right arm, waist, and hips. All the articulation on her right arm makes it possible for her to hold her large projectile rifle or her blaster pistol and look good to boot. You can make her hold her rifle in a relaxed position at her waist, or have her holding it up in a firing position. It would have been nice if she had an articulated left arm, but oh well. Accessories--4/5 Zam comes with three accessories: her pistol, her rifle, and a simulated blast effect that attaches to the end of her weapons. Her weapons are nicely detailed and somewhat resemble some real-life guns. This is good because the original trilogy had many guns that were based on real-life guns. Since this movie will be that much closer to the original trilogy's time period, I'm sure we'll see designs that come closer to those found in A New Hope. Anyhoo, the guns are made of a soft plastic which isn't good if you plan on using the blast-effect. If you keep it on the end of the gun too long, I'm sure it will cause the gun barrel to droop down. The blast-effect accessory is, in my opinion, pretty unconvincing. I've got a pretty good imagination, but I can't get myself to imagine that it even resembles a blast coming out of her guns. Paint--4/5 The paint on Zam is good, even though there's not much color in her outfit. My figure has no major mispaints or bleeding of color. Good job, Hasbro! Overall--3.5/5 Zam is a pretty decent figure. She's a bit pre-posed but has some good posability for shooting poses. Her posing is actually similar to 300th Boba Fett, so if you liked that figure, you might like Zam. I still don't know much about the character or her role in AOTC, though, so who knows? Maybe I'll like this figure a lot more after I see the movie.
