New at StarWarsShop.com!

A new exclusive is available at StarWarsShop.com! It's the ! Unless you're planning on going to Germany to attend this convention, this is probably the best way to get your hands on these figures. Or you could always wait for Hasbro to re-release them later in some kind of "Legends" line. But they wouldn't do that, would they? ;)

This next item isn't exactly new, but it's pretty darn cool and expensive at $220.00--the !
There are only 500 of this colorized version (the first run was a bronze-finished version which sold out). This is in Non-Mint condition, but it saves you about $80 off the original price of $299.99!

That Didn't Work So Well...

Okay, so things maybe haven't been going as I had planned with the site. Huge. Understatement.
I am nowhere close to where I wanted the site to be, and I'm not sure if it will ever get there.
I still want to switch to a new hosting company, and also upgrade to a new blog engine, but the thought of transferring all of these posts is discouraging. I've tried to transfer to the posts to the new Movable Type, but the posts just don't show up correctly. Oh well, I may just have to do it by hand.

I find that I'm moving away from collecting the 3 3/4" figures, and am gravitating more towards the 12" figures, especially the Medicoms. Oh I'll still buy the figures I really like, but for the most part I'm trying to quit collecting the smaller figures.

On a personal note, I have to say that my collecting habits have changed because my priorities have changed. While Star Wars has been one of my favorite hobbies, I have to concede that there are more important things that I have to worry about and look forward to. Things like saving up for a house, getting married, and eventually raising a family. Granted, this all isn't happening right this instant, but it is definitely on the horizon and fast approaching.

And with that, I'd like to announce that I'll be selling a few things right here on this website, to help clean up the clutter and also to help save money. I'll be selling some Sideshow figures, maybe some Legos, and some Hasbro figures. Keep checking back; hopefully I'll have the sell list up soon.

I Need Your Input!

Well, things haven't been going so well with the new site. The review script that I am thinking about using doesn't have the features I'd like, and if I do use it, I'd have to basically reformat the way reviews are done.

So here's the deal: I can go ahead an go with the review script, or I can try to find something better (a bit unlikely unless someone can make a custom script for me), or I can just leave the site how it is now.

If I go with the review script, anyone can create an account and then write reviews for any figure and it will automatically be put on the site (once I approve it, that is). The downside is that we'd have to kind of get rid of the Overal score for a figure. You see, this review script creates it's own Overall score and it's an average of the other attribute scores (Sculpting, Articulation, Paint, etc.). This is contrary to what I've been doing where the Overall score is NOT an average as I feel that sometimes a figure's greatness is not the sum of its parts. It's something I may have to conceed to though in the interest of the site's longevity.

There are other little nagging things about the review script, but the above problem is the only one I can't do anything about.

So I ask you, dear readers, what should I do? Go ahead and use the script or just keep the site the way it is?

...that's a line from Star Tours BTW. I haven't been able to work on the site as much as I want, which has been frustrating since I've been looking forward to launching the new version. Right now I'm working on the new look and layout of the site and am still looking at hosting options. I just signed up with a new hosting service for the new site, but it seems a bit...slow.
We're goin in full throttle!

Happy New Year everyone!

Okay. So it's been what, a couple months since my last post? Arrgh! I know, I know, I've been a bad webmaster, but I at least wanted to let you know that I'm not going to let this site die and that I've got even grander plans for it than simply having guest reviews.

One of my plans for the site has been to make it a true community site rather than my own personal webpage devoted to Star Wars figure reviews, but I never had the money or time to really make it more than what is it right now.

Well, now I've got some money (time is still a bit iffy) and so I'm planning on going all the way with the site and making it so that anyone can write a review of any Star Wars action figure simply by creating an account and posting away! I'm also planning on opening up a forum for discussion.

So when is this all gonna happen? I'll be honest, this is gonna take a while. It may be as long as two or three months until everything is ready...maybe even more than that. In the process, the site may be down for a couple of days here and there as I switch hosting companies and test the new software.

I'm pretty excited about it all, but am also feeling a bit overwhelmed by how much needs to be done or redone. In any case, thank you for visiting the site, and I hope you'll enjoy it even more after I'm done "remodeling"!

MTFBWY!

A New Order...

You may have noticed that the site hasn't been updated in oh, almost two months. The reason is because I started a new job on 9/11 and it's been eating up A LOT of my time. I barely have time to look for figures, let alone review them. However, I'm finally getting used to my new schedule and I may be able to sqeeze out a review here and there. But to be honest, I don't think I'll be able to do reviews as often as I or you would like, so I've decided to do something that I've been thinking about for a long time...

I'm going to start accepting guest reviews!

Now hold yer horses pardner! Don't submit a review just yet. There's going to be guidelines and rules, but they won't be too bad. As long as you're a decent writer, you'll be fine.

Photos are the subject I was debating most about. I like to think that the photos on this site are one of its strong points and I'd like to keep up or improve that level of quality. I'm thinking that for now, I'll provide the photos, unless you're a badass photographer then of course, I'll take yours. This is still all up in the air, but I want to avoid bad photos like the ones in some of my older reviews (I swear I'm gonna redo some of those someday!).

Anyway, I'll post the guidelines for submitting reviews in the near future. In the meantime, let me know what you think of these ideas and please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Sideshow Order of the Jedi Luke Skywalker 12-Inch Figure Review

I've actually had this review completed for a few months now, but was reluctant to post it because it just didn't sit right with me. I wanted to make sure that my own excitement over a non-Hasbro 12" line of Star Wars figures wasn't coloring my opinion. Conversely, I didn't want to bash the figure just because it fell a little short of my expectations.

To give a little background, my expectations were built upon my experience collecting 1/6th military figures from Dragon, BBi, and DiD. Fifty bucks should get you a pretty good military figure with an excellently tailored uniform, great headsculpt, moving parts on the weapons, functional ammo pouches and equipment, and a great posable body. Some companies even have metal weapons and accessories, not to mention leather footwear. So coming from this point of view, I was expecting a lot from my fifty-dollar-Luke. However, if you've just collected Hasbro's 12" Star Wars figures, these figures will be a definite step-up.

Sideshow 12" Bespin Han Solo Preview

I finally received my Sideshow 12" Bespin Han Solo figure yesterday (regular version), so I thought I'd share some quick photos and some initial impressions.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this figure. In fact, I wasn't even going to buy this figure, but since it is a major character from the Original Trilogy, I decided I should get it for better or for worse...

The Saga Collection #036 Luke Skywalker (Escape From Mos Eisley) Review

While I don't recall ever seeing Luke wear both his poncho and floppy hat at the same time, including both accessories is much appreciated. And accessorize is exactly what this figure does best with it's nice pack out of items both new and old. The figure itself is old, but has a new headsculpt to make it feel new. What's the verdict? Read on for the review and 25 photos!
